Marvin Gaye was a huge part of the labels success. What can I say that you haven't already heard about Marvin Gaye. He's the Man. Plus its great to play when making love. If you love music in general, this is a must have for your collection. This CD is packed with with all his hits. Motown, during the 60's/70's, were cranking out the hits left and right.
I think it is worth to buy. I din't know much about Marvin Gaye, however I had in my head his song " I heard trough the Grapevine " and I like it very much. For this reason I bought the CD, and I discovered that also " what's goin on " was of his Motown Hit song.
This album doesn't have anywhere near "every great Motown hit of Marvin Gaye". In Nov.1993 I bought my first CD player & my first CD,which was this one. I know that years later, better Gaye compiliations came out & I wish I had waited. If I listed other great Motown hits of Marvin Gaye, they could & should have made this at least a 2 disc set. A couple months before,I bought a cheap cassette of this album, but my cassette deck ate it.I got fed up with tapes & got into CD's & I've bought hundreds since. I couldn't give this 5 stars because of its title.
A must have album. What can I say - Marvin Gaye.there will never be another singer as Marvin Gaye. No matter what album you may purchase.you will not be disappointed. This is a great album having so many of his older songs.this is a 5 Star album.
He will always be remembered for the smooth sweetness of his tone, the poetry of his words. and MARVIN GAYE. and the conscience his voice lent to an era. There are some voices that--no matter where you are or what you are doing--stop you in your tracks and command you to listen. Aretha Franklin, Smoky Robinson, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello.
